AMC Drops AI Short Film ‘Thanksgiving Day’ Amid Viewer Backlash

AMC Theaters has announced it will not screen the AI-generated short film “Thanksgiving Day,” created by Igor Alferov, following immediate backlash from moviegoers who criticized its content.

The film, which won an AI film festival and was scheduled for a two-week theatrical run in 2,300 theaters across the United States, has received near-unanimous negative reactions on social media. Viewers described it as “literal slop” and “complete garbage,” with some threatening to boycott AMC locations.

AMC stated that it had no involvement in the film’s creation or the initiative and would not participate in showing the short film.
