Illegally Licensed Driver Caused Catastrophic Accident That Changed Life of Young Girl

Partap Singh, an Indian national who entered the United States illegally in 2022, reportedly obtained a commercial driver’s license through California’s Department of Motor Vehicles under Governor Gavin Newsom. On June 20, 2024, Singh allegedly caused a multi-vehicle collision that left numerous Americans severely injured, including then-five-year-old Dalilah Coleman.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Dalilah suffered a broken femur and skull fractures in the accident, spent three weeks in a coma, and was later diagnosed with diplegic cerebral palsy and global developmental delay requiring lifelong therapy. “Against all odds, she is now in first grade, learning to walk,” DHS stated.

During his State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Donald Trump acknowledged Dalilah’s resilience, noting legislation targeting illegal immigrants obtaining commercial licenses was being prioritized. “Doctors said Dalilah would never be able to walk or talk—have a good life,” Trump added.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated in September: “Dalilah Coleman’s life was forever changed when an illegal alien driving an 18-wheeler slammed into her and her family. This tragedy was entirely preventable.” She further criticized California’s actions, asking, “How many more innocent people must become victims before Gavin Newsom stops playing games with American lives?”

Trump called for Congress to pass the “Dalilah Law,” which would prohibit any state from issuing commercial driver licenses to unauthorized immigrants.
