The Democratic campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has released a statement following revelations that unearthed text messages contradict his public assertions of having no connections to the Muslim Brotherhood.
According to the statement, El-Sayed’s half-sister has posted about the Muslim Brotherhood multiple times on social media platforms.
El-Sayed, who is running for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat, has encountered challenges with traditional Democratic voters, including Jewish communities, due to his perceived extremism.
The campaign statement quotes El-Sayed’s sister: “Abdul’s family is directly tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. Maybe one day he will tell Michiganders the truth … But if not, you can just take his sister’s word for it.”
