Chicago Man Charged in Multiple Assault Cases Including One Involving 56-Year-Old Woman

William Livingston was charged with multiple counts of aggravated battery public place, aggravated battery great bodily harm, and reckless conduct bodily harm after a 56-year-old woman, Kathleen Miles, was attacked on West Washington Avenue in Chicago. The incident occurred on August 19 when Miles was walking to a train with a co-worker. Livingston was described as a repeat offender who had been arrested at least 20 times dating back to 2012, with some arrests for aggravated assault and battery against women and police officers.

Livingston’s violent actions included punching a mother of 11 and another woman, resulting in significant injuries, including broken facial bones and a concussion. The victim, Miles, described the attacker as “strong, and scary, and he knows what he’s doing,” noting that the punch knocked her out. Police identified Livingston as the culprit, with charges including two felony counts of aggravated battery public place and one misdemeanor count of reckless conduct bodily harm.

Livingston was arrested on June 12 after being linked to attacks on a 40-year-old female and a 29-year-old female in the 2700 block of North Clark Street. One of the victims, Anne Kurze, identified Livingston from a police lineup, describing his actions as “a punch and then kept walking north up the street.” Kurze reported suffering a neck injury and concussion, expressing that “any day he is off the street is a good day,” while noting the lingering fear and anxiety from the attack.

Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office indicated Livingston was directly indicted in the case, with evidence presented to a grand jury. The victim Miles expressed frustration over Livingston’s repeated arrests, questioning what it would take for him to be held accountable. She also mentioned that the trauma of the August attack still lingers, stating “I struggle with it every day; I struggle with just fear of being hurt.”

Livingston has been in jail since August 21, with no bond, following his arrest on June 12. The case highlights his history of violent offenses, including multiple charges for aggravated battery public place and attempted robbery, as well as a record of mugshots dating back to 2012.
