Abdi Nur Salah, a former senior policy aide to Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, has pleaded guilty in January 2025 to stealing funds from a government program designed to feed children during the coronavirus pandemic.
Salah was arrested on July 11, 2025, by Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office officers after they reported smelling a burnt chemical odor and discovering white powdery residue and straws in his vehicle. The arrest occurred at approximately 7:35 a.m., with records indicating he was charged with driving under the influence (DWI) and refusing a chemical test.
As part of his guilty plea to the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme, Salah forfeited $343,418.98 from his credit union account and two real estate properties. He was released on Tuesday on a $6,000 bond.
