More than a dozen individuals have been charged in connection with a violent attack on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Texas in 2025. The leader of that assault received a sentence of 100 years in prison, while seven others were handed sentences ranging from 30 to 70 years. Several additional individuals have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
Michigan Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib has criticized the convictions and sentences, stating they constitute “a travesty and totally unjustified.” In a recent social media post, Tlaib condemned President Donald Trump’s September declaration that Antifa is a terrorist group under National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 (NSPM-7), which established a federal strategy for charging violent groups with terrorism.
Tlaib wrote: “Americans hate the fascist Trump regime, so the only way they can try to cling to power is brute force. NSPM-7 is a grave threat to all of us and more bullst ‘terrorism’ charges like these are coming.”
