Gov. Walz Sparks Outrage After Equating Immigration Agents to Nazis

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has drawn widespread criticism for his recent remarks comparing U.S. immigration enforcement agents to Nazi perpetrators in a speech condemning federal actions following a deadly shooting incident.

The U.S. Holocaust Museum released a statement strongly criticizing the comparison, stating that “exploiting the Holocaust is deeply offensive, especially as antisemitism surges.” The organization emphasized that Anne Frank was targeted and murdered solely because she was Jewish, and leaders making false equivalencies to her experience for political purposes are never acceptable.

Walz had demanded Sunday that President Donald Trump pull back federal troops after the lethal shooting of anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement agitator Alex Pretti in South Minneapolis. During his remarks, Walz stated: “Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank… Somebody’s going to write that children’s story about Minnesota.”

The White House Rapid Response team described Walz’s comments as coming from a “truly disturbed, unstable individual.” However, Walz later spoke with President Trump on Monday, according to the president: “Governor Tim Walz called me with the request to work together with respect to Minnesota. It was a very good call, and we, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength.”
