A coalition of cattle industry organizations in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas has issued a joint statement expressing serious concerns that federal immigration enforcement operations are disrupting the beef supply chain and driving up prices for consumers.
The statement highlighted that these activities have already created a “massive chilling effect” on legal, documented workers who are essential to maintaining the beef production process and supply chain.
“The disruptions can create immediate animal-welfare, operational, and economic consequences that extend well beyond an individual business,” the groups stated.
They noted that cattle producers are already facing significant challenges with rising beef prices, which have increased by 37.8% from 2013 through 2026. The organizations also reported millions of dollars in lost revenue and added costs directly linked to recent ICE operations.
Additionally, the statement referenced President Trump’s recent remarks on deregulating meat processing rules during an interview with radio host Glenn Beck, which Trump described as a potential “HUGE WIN” for independent American farmers.
