ICE Billboard in San Francisco Sparks Outrage Ahead of Super Bowl

A billboard advertising Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has ignited backlash among many on the left just ahead of Super Bowl weekend. Located in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, the advertisement portrays an ICE agent with the caption “Defensive player of the year.”

Karen Guerrero, a Chicago resident, described her reaction: “It made me sick to my stomach. It puts fear in me — that it’s desensitizing people to think that it’s OK to be people hurting people.”

A group called American Sovereignty claimed responsibility for the billboard and stated on social media: “We are saluting the brave Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who work every day in defense of America with billboards and ads in San Francisco.”

The sign has drawn mixed reactions online, with some users labeling it as “Sickening” and others expressing support. One user questioned the group’s motives by asking, “Patriots or Brownshirt thugs?” while another wrote: “FK ICE aka NEOGESTAPOS NO ONE IS ILLEGAL ON OCCUPIED LAND.”

The area surrounding Levi’s Stadium is expected to draw over 1.3 million visitors for the upcoming Super Bowl.
