LAFAYETTE, La. — Christie Elizabeth Dunbar Oster, 38, of Lafayette, who was honored as Broussard Middle School’s 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year last September, has been arrested twice within less than a week following allegations of sexual misconduct with minors.
Lafayette Police Department records indicate Oster was first arrested last Wednesday on charges of carnal knowledge and indecent behavior with a juvenile. She was released after posting a $30,000 bond.
Days later, Oster was again arrested for another child sex crime. The Broussard Police Department reported that an incident occurred within Broussard city limits, prompting the issuance of a warrant. Oster turned herself in Monday to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and was charged with indecent behavior with juveniles, with her bond set at $10,000.
Authorities confirmed the alleged victim is a former student of Oster. A stay-away order against Oster was filed by the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court on January 5. The Broussard Middle School has placed Oster on leave and removed her from its website.
