Activist Uses Air Horn to Disrupt School Threat Probe in Maine

Police in Maine reported an incident Wednesday where a woman allegedly disrupted a police investigation into threats at a school. The investigation involved a person of interest who communicated an intent to kill school staff and others.

According to the Brewer Police Department, officers staged a meet-up at a residence to safely contact the individual. At approximately 8:16 a.m., the woman—identified as Mary Conmee, 63, of Orrington—allegedly began interrupting the operation by sounding an air horn repeatedly, refusing lawful orders to leave, yelling expletives at officers, and stating she “didn’t want ICE” in her neighborhood.

Police stated that her actions interfered with legitimate law enforcement operations and created a real risk to investigating officers. Subsequent investigations found that the person of interest was not responsible for the threats, which were consistent with swatting incidents reported at multiple schools earlier that morning.

Conmee has been summoned for offenses of disorderly conduct and obstructing government administration. The incident follows recent reports of public interference in law enforcement operations, particularly since the January 7 death of Renee Good, who nearly ran over an ICE officer with her vehicle during an immigration operation.
