Cameron Kasky, a gun control advocate who survived the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in 2018, has apologized for remarks he made on a CNN panel last Tuesday that were interpreted as accusing former President Donald Trump of being involved with Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
Kasky stated during the panel discussion: “I said that by accident and didn’t mean it.” He later repeated this claim when confronted by commentator Scott Jennings. Kasky then issued an online apology, writing: “I would like to retract my comments from CNN last night and truly apologize.”
The gun control advocate emphasized that Trump “was obviously not involved with a giant international child sex trafficking ring where women and children were systematically raped by elites.”
Kasky, who has become a prominent voice in the movement following his experience at Parkland, noted that he had made comments on social media about restricting gun rights. His remarks sparked online debate, with some interpreting the tone as sarcastic.
It is important to note that while Donald Trump had a past connection to Jeffrey Epstein, he was not convicted of participating in Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking activities. The billionaire financier accepted a plea deal in 2018 for a felony charge related to soliciting a minor for sex.
Kasky clarified on social media that his comments were made by accident and did not reflect any intention to slander Trump, stating he was “singing a far different tune” the next day after retracting his remarks.
