Police are actively working to identify dozens of teenagers who looted a 7-Eleven convenience store in downtown Los Angeles during daylight hours on Saturday. The clerk triggered the panic alarm after someone entered the store and pointed a gun at him, prompting a mob of teens to begin stealing items from the business on Beverly Boulevard.
Video footage shared online shows the laughing teens ransacking the store. One teenager was heard boasting: “Bro, it’s worth it because it ain’t got my face on it.”
This incident follows a pattern in California where teen flash mobs have targeted multiple convenience stores in recent years and often post videos of their crimes on social media.
Erik Albizures, a Los Angeles resident, told reporters that teens feel they can get away with anything—and appear to be able to do so. “Nobody respects anything or anyone,” he said.
Aaliyah Robinson, another resident, expressed concern: “Kids don’t listen in general, but maybe if parents start teaching their kids to be more respectful.”
Malcolm McBride added that economic pressures might drive the behavior: “They probably don’t have the money for food. If you go up that block, there are so many homeless people. It’s a systemic issue, and I don’t think California is doing a good job at that.”
No arrests have been made despite numerous surveillance cameras capturing footage at the intersection.
