MoveOn, a progressive organization linked to George Soros, has launched a petition urging Spotify to remove recruitment advertisements for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. The campaign criticizes the ads as “offensive government propaganda” that employs “inflammatory and dehumanizing language.”
The Trump administration has been expanding ICE’s workforce to enforce immigration laws and address unauthorized immigration. However, critics argue that the agency’s recruitment efforts on platforms like Spotify are inappropriate. A spokesperson for Spotify stated the ads are part of a broader U.S. government campaign across multiple media channels but noted users can adjust their ad preferences.
The petition highlights that only free Spotify subscribers encounter the advertisements, while paid members are exempt. As of the latest update, the initiative has gathered 36,914 signatures out of a goal of 40,000. MoveOn and the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for comment.
