Omar Claims ICE Racial Profiling After Son Pulled Over at Target

Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota accused federal agents of racial profiling after her son was stopped by ICE during a traffic stop at Target on Sunday.

According to the congresswoman, her son was asked for identification and released once he produced his passport. “They are racially profiling,” Omar said, adding that ICE agents target young men who appear Somali, assuming they are undocumented. “They are looking for young men who look Somali that they think are undocumented.”

Omar stated her son was pulled over after a stop at Target and permitted to proceed once he presented his passport. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, echoed these claims in a social media post: “Congresswoman Omar’s son was pulled over by ICE while he was following the law, on his way home from Target. This isn’t a targeted operation to find violent criminals, it’s racial profiling.”

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump criticized Omar and Somali migrants in Minnesota, citing their lack of assimilation and disproportionally high rates of fraud. In an Oval Office interview, Trump remarked: “There’s nothing worse than a person that comes in and does nothing but bh,” he added, claiming she should not be telling others what to do.

Trump also stated: “What’s happening in Minnesota with Somalia, where billions of dollars are being stolen like candy from a baby, we’re not going to let that go on.”
