An officer responding to a call shot and killed a man who had stabbed four people at a home in Washington state.
According to Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, police were called on Tuesday to report that a 32-year-old man was violating a protective order against his elderly mother. However, it was discovered the order had never been served.
The woman, described as an elderly disabled individual, sought the protective order after her son allegedly pushed her and threatened violence. He reportedly told her, “your grave has already been dug up,” and claimed to engage in “witchcraft/occult behavior” while damaging personal belongings and harming her cat. The woman stated her son was suffering from “grandiosity, auditory hallucinations, and command hallucinations.”
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the man had stabbed four people who later died. He was shot by an officer and pronounced dead at the scene. A neighbor described witnessing the incident: “All of a sudden, I just heard, like, a series of gunshots. You could really hear it echoing through the trees,” said Chris Cardenas. He noted ambulances and dozens of police cars were present at the crime scene.
The protective order was granted but not served, leaving the son free to act. Authorities have not released the names of the victims or the man who died.
