DNSFilter Censors Conservative Media While Left-Wing Outlets Remain Unblocked

Blaze Media’s tests reveal that DNSFilter, an internet security service designed to block malicious or misleading websites, is censoring conservative media outlets while left-wing sites remain unblocked.

During the test, five conservative websites were blocked by DNSFilter with content warnings labeling them as “associated with the Contentious & Misinformation category.” These included Blaze News. In contrast, major conservative platforms such as The Daily Wire, Breitbart, Turning Point USA, Fox News, and The Babylon Bee were permitted without warning.

Left-wing outlets including The Guardian, Slate, and Vice also passed DNSFilter without any content warnings. Mainstream news sites like CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post were similarly allowed.

Blaze Media previously faced blacklisting by NewsGuard and the Global Disinformation Index in efforts to demonetize them and remove their content from the internet. They survived these campaigns.

When contacted about the blocking of conservative outlets, DNSFilter did not provide a response before the deadline. Amber Duke, editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller, instructed users to whitelist Blaze News by adding “TheBlaze.com” to their DNSFilter allow list.
