A Minnesota judge has sentenced Abdiaziz Shafii Farah to an additional decade in prison for his role in a massive bribery scheme targeting jurors within the Feeding Our Future nonprofit case. The fraud, uncovered in June 2024, involved attempts by Farah and co-defendants to secure acquittals through $120,000 bribes.
Farah pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to bribe a juror as part of the scheme. Court documents reveal that a woman appearing to be Somali delivered a money bag to a family member of Juror 52. The note on the bag read: “This is for juror 52,” with another note stating: “Tell her there will be another bag for her if she votes to acquit.”
When Juror 52 reported the incident to federal authorities, seven defendants who had been allowed to appear on their own recognizance were arrested and detained during their trial. One juror was dismissed from the case while the others were questioned about whether they had been approached for bribery. The scheme initially implicated four additional individuals beyond Farah.
