The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has reportedly unveiled an extreme platform targeting core U.S. government structures, including the elimination of the Senate and Department of Defense, while demanding full amnesty for undocumented immigrants.
This shift follows a surge in DSA influence within the Democratic Party as endorsed candidates defeat centrist establishment Democrats across critical races. Among them: Darializa Avila Chevalier, running for New York’s 13th Congressional District after advocating for border abolition, police and prison elimination, and previously posting “Fk Kamala Harris” on social media; Claire Valdez, who won New York’s 7th Congressional District primary with a platform focused on border demilitarization, illegal alien amnesty, and aggressive climate regulations under the “Green New Deal”; and Melat Kiros, campaigning for Colorado’s 1st Congressional District while calling to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and expressing anti-Israel sentiments.
The DSA’s updated platform would require Congress to create an executive branch and judiciary directly subordinate to itself, end all deportations, eliminate international travel restrictions, and grant full voting rights to noncitizens. The group recently revoked its endorsement of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for insufficient anti-Israel advocacy, prompting some centrist Democrats to form alliances defending free-market principles and traditional Democratic values.
