Comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla delivered a pointed critique of Democratic policies during his speech at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas on Wednesday. Known for mocking left-wing initiatives, Carolla opened with a comedic land acknowledgment that drew laughter from the audience: “This is the greatest land in the history of mankind!” he declared. “And if that bothers you, your communist and hippie buddies should get the hell off it!”
Carolla targeted California’s regulatory environment, referencing a fan query about the Golden Gate Bridge construction under Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration. “Could you imagine how long it would take to build the Golden Gate Bridge today in Gavin Newsom’s California?” he said, quipping, “People who wanted to commit suicide would die of natural causes!”
The comedian emphasized his stance on government intervention, stating: “I’m not an overly political person. I’m just a guy who lives in California and sees which way the wind is blowing.” He added that Democrats seek to incorporate California into their national framework, where citizens pay taxes without receiving meaningful returns, urging a reduction in government size for greater freedom.
The speech drew boos when Carolla jokingly suggested part of him wished Governor Newsom become president so he could “get the hell out of California.” After allowing the audience to respond with laughter and jeers, Carolla clarified: “Just kidding. That fascist will never be president!”
