Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar Denies Marrying Brother Amid Immigration Fraud Allegations

Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has repeatedly denied accusations that she married her brother to help him fraudulently obtain U.S. immigration status, according to a recent confrontation with a reporter.

During an exchange on Wednesday, the congresswoman was directly questioned about ongoing allegations of marriage fraud involving her family. When pressed by reporter Alison Steinberg whether she had married her brother, Omar responded: “I am not above the law.”

When asked if there was any possibility she engaged in such misconduct, Omar declared: “Absolutely not! What a ridiculous thing to ask!”

Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed on Sunday that an “ongoing criminal investigation” is being conducted by the Department of Homeland Security’s investigations division into potential immigration violations by Congresswoman Omar. Homan emphasized: “If someone committed immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they’re a congressman or not, no one’s above the law.”

In 2020, Omar released a statement denying similar allegations, stating: “A number of baseless rumors have been made recently about my personal life and family. I will say it again here: They are absolutely false and ridiculous.”

The video of the interaction went viral on social media.
