A 17-year-old Florida male has been arrested in connection with the murder of his 16-year-old girlfriend, Ashia La Shai Moore, who was reportedly seven months pregnant.
According to police, Moore was discovered dead on the floor from an apparent gunshot wound at the Palm Villa Apartments in Lake City following a well-being check. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested Dominique Santonio Hill of Lake City on charges of tampering with evidence related to the investigation.
Moore, who was also known as “Shia” by close family and friends, had been pregnant for seven months at the time of her death.
Gigi Reighns, a close family friend, said Ashia — who she and others lovingly called Shia — was only 7-months pregnant with her precious baby boy when that monster took both of their lives from us. “We lost not only Shia, but an innocent baby who never even got the chance to see the world,” Reighns added. “The pain of losing them is something I don’t think words can ever truly explain.”
Hill, identified by police as Moore’s boyfriend, was taken into custody without bond and is being held at the Columbia County Detention Facility. Law enforcement is urging anyone with information to contact the sheriff’s office at 386-719-2005 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
