Democratic Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker faces questions about his billionaire status as progressive Democrats within his party increasingly target the wealthy.
During an interview Tuesday, Kaitlan Collins asked Pritzker whether he was comfortable with far-left Democrats who frequently identify billionaires as enemies, noting that the governor is worth approximately $4.3 billion.
“I think it’s about what do you stand for and what do you actually accomplish for people, not how much money you have,” Pritzker responded.
The governor highlighted his record of supporting a workers’ rights amendment passed in Illinois, advocating for LGBTQ and reproductive rights, legalizing cannabis, and raising the state minimum wage from $8.25 to $15 as evidence of his commitment to tangible outcomes over wealth.
When pressed on the issue, Pritzker also remarked that President Trump suffers from dementia, stating, “The man is continually suffering from dementia. I don’t think he really understands what he’s saying.”
Pritzker is the heir to the Hyatt Hotels fortune and in February 2026, his cousin Thomas Pritzker stepped down as executive chairman of Hyatt Hotels Corporation after 22 years following his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
