Edmond police discovered that the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy on September 9 at his home was staged, according to an investigation. The victim was found dead from a headshot inside his residence in Edmond, Oklahoma, initially blamed on an intruder who allegedly entered through a window wearing a black hoodie and fled via the front door.
However, police found no signs of forced entry and instead uncovered evidence that the incident had been deliberately staged. Authorities arrested the boy’s 11-year-old sister, who later admitted in an affidavit to shooting her brother with a small-caliber handgun.
The family reported that the girl was embarrassed by her disabled brother and felt jealous of the attention he received from their parents. Police seized an Apple iPhone, an Apple iPad, and a Samsung Digital Tablet from the home following a search warrant, believing these devices may contain evidence related to the crime’s motivation and execution.
The girl was booked into juvenile detention on a second-degree murder charge the day after the shooting. Defense attorney Irven Box stated that the parents’ comments about the girl’s psychological state were a significant factor in the case. He noted, “I think there’s a lot of evidence that she’s got some definite, very serious psychological problems.”
Box added that the girl would not face adult charges and would instead remain in juvenile detention or undergo treatment until reaching 18.
