According to police, two individuals vandalized property and assaulted a person during San Francisco’s Trans March. The arrests triggered a confrontation with marchers who attempted to free the suspects.
In the incident, the two suspects were arrested alongside three marchers, while two police officers sustained injuries after trying to manage the crowd that obstructed their efforts.
A witness described the scene: “People were dancing, children were running around. It was just joyful. And suddenly the police came running. Some of them had their guns drawn, batons out.”
Police reported one suspect spray-painted another marcher during the altercation. When officers attempted to arrest both suspects, marchers surrounded and blocked the officers.
A woman who witnessed the melee told KRON-TV that police should have let the suspects go rather than engage in a confrontation with the crowd. The witness, known as Missy, said: “I’m crying because it was just so shocking to see such a peaceful, beautiful event just be basically run over by police out of nowhere over somebody spray-painting.”
