Skepticism over Sen. Darline Graham’s qualifications to hold her seat has grown following a Tuesday debate with Republican candidate Ralph Norman, who is also running for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina.
Graham, who was appointed last month by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to finish her brother’s term after his death on July 11, faced a direct question from moderator Greta Van Susteren about whether Taiwan and the South China Sea are national security issues for the United States during their campaign discussions.
Both candidates advanced from a special GOP primary election held on August 11 and will compete in the state’s Senate runoff primary on August 25.
