A 19-year-old Florida man is being held without bond following an alleged armed robbery that resulted in a 20-year-old suspect’s death, according to court records.
On August 6, Jabari Thomas and Demetrius Tromain Travis attempted to rob a food delivery driver at the northwest corner of 34th Court in Miami Gardens. During the incident, Thomas entered the back seat of the victim’s vehicle and placed a firearm against the driver’s head.
The suspects were attempting to access the driver’s CashApp account when the victim drew his own weapon and fired, striking Travis in the chest, leg, and face. The 20-year-old was airlifted to a hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Thomas, who was taken into custody later that day, faces charges of armed robbery and second-degree felony murder. He is currently held without bond and could face life imprisonment if convicted. The delivery driver remained at the scene and has not been charged.
