Marty O’Donnell, the Republican candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District and celebrated composer of the Halo series theme song, was disinvited from the SacAnime convention in Sacramento after the event organizer cited concerns about his LGBTQ+ staff members’ safety.
According to O’Donnell, the promoter stated that “his LGBTQ staff does not feel comfortable if you attend the event” and rescinded their invitation due to his “recently reported statements of the political campaign.” He responded: “If you thought we defeated Cancel Culture in 2024, guess again!”
The disinvitation follows an account linked to Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign sharing a video purportedly showing O’Donnell stating he “calls for persecuting LGBTQ+ people.” O’Donnell has attributed the cancellation to “propaganda from leftist supporters of my political opponent” and urged his base to support him through MartyforCongress.vote.
